Need a hand with Forage? Email apps@kevin-baur.com and we'll get back to you, usually within a few business days. Including your device model, app version and a short description helps us help you faster.
Forage helps you find and identify species, but it does not confirm edibility and identification is never 100% certain. Many edible species have toxic lookalikes. Never eat anything based only on the app — always confirm with a field guide, an experienced forager or a local expert.
Open the app's settings and tap Restore Purchases. If you bought Pro before creating your account, it is also reconciled automatically, usually within 1 hour at the latest. If it still doesn't unlock after that, email us and we'll sort it out.
The free version includes 5 scans in total (not per month), with bonus scans unlocked as you rank up. Pro includes 50 scans per month. Your current count is always shown in the app.
A free trial converts to a paid subscription automatically when it ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial finishes. You cancel through your store account (see below) — cancelling during the trial means you are not charged and keep access until the trial ends.
Subscriptions are billed through the App Store or Google Play, so you manage them there. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: Google Play → Menu → Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; your access continues until the end of the paid period. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
Note: cancelling a subscription is not the same as deleting your account — see deleting your account. Cancel first, then delete if you also want your account removed.
A find needs to know where it was made. Photos taken with location services on carry that information; photos without any location data (for example screenshots, downloaded images, or photos with location stripped out) can't be placed on the map as a find. Take the photo in the app, or use one that still has its location information.
Spots stay private until the species is identified. Once a find has a confirmed species, it can appear publicly; unidentified finds remain visible only to you.
Check that you granted Forage notification permission in your device settings, and that your location or region is set in the app — in-season alerts are tied to your area, so the app needs to know where you are to notify you.
The season is calculated for your location from weather, elevation and occurrence data, so timing shifts with latitude, elevation and each year's weather. A species may simply be out of season where you are.
Please email us with your device model, app version and a short description, and we'll look into it.
